Salt Lake Community College: This Giving Day Help Students Access Affordable Education
|
On Thursday, February 16, Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) will host its annual Giving Day to raise funds to help make college more affordable to many students who otherwise would not be able to access higher education or workforce training.
The goal of Giving Day is to bring together the college’s stakeholders, employees and the larger community to help raise $500,000 during a 24-hour window in which funds will be matched.
Mountain America Credit Union, UFirst Credit Union and SLCC’s Executive Cabinet, Foundation Board and Board of Trustees are matching gifts during specific hours throughout the day. Find out more about matching hours on the Giving Day webpage.
Every dollar donated directly supports students in five specific areas: Scholarships, the PACE (high school) program, student support programs, athletics and areas of the greatest student need.
“Every donation makes a difference in our students’ lives through scholarships and programs that support them as they pursue their educational goals at SLCC,” said SLCC President Deneece G. Huftalin. “When education is accessible, the ripple effects are remarkable, positively influencing families, communities and Utah overall.”
